Need
or Want Fresh Natural Clean Raw Goat Milk?
.....
Consider a Goat Share!
What is a Goat Share?
It is a partnership in a dairy goat. All goats will have
multiple owners. Your ownership allows you to benefit from what the goat
produces. By owning a share in a goat, you have a fresh supply of your own goat
milk to drink and you are allotted a weekly share of fresh, raw,
un-pasteurized, clean milk ready for pickup at a designated time and location.
How does a Share work?
You and others own shares in a goat. You benefit from owing a
share of the goat by receiving a portion of the milk the goat produces. As with
any animal, goats require care. This includes feeding, general maintenance and
milking. Breeze Hill Farm will board your goat, care for it, milk it and
prepare the milk for you to pickup from a designated location.
How much milk can I expect from one share?
One share will provide approximately ½ gallon of milk for about
33 weeks. Half shares provide approximately 1 quart for about 33 weeks. Average
lactation time for our goats is about 6 – 8 months. It is possible for a goat
to milk shorter or longer periods of time. Breeze Hill Farm reserves the right
to transfer your share from one goat to another if available. The goal being to
provide you with an uninterrupted milk supply when ever possible.
How much does it cost?
First
purchase your share (s):
A full Share is $50.00 (one time non refundable fee)
A half share is $30.00 (one time non refundable fee)
Boarding and
maintenance fee:
Now that you own your share, you will need to board your goat.
The cost for boarding is $8.00 per week for each full share ($5.00 per week for
a half share). The monthly boarding fee is based on multiplying the number of
shares by the number of weeks in a month.
Example: For a full
share – if your pickup day is Friday and there are 4 Friday’s in that month,
then your monthly boarding fee is $8.00 x 4 = $32.00 .
(These prices are subject to change based on feed prices, hay,
supplies, labor, etc. changing)
What do I get for my share?
Your share entitles you to approximately ½ gallon of milk/week.
However, production does fluctuate and may change that amount throughout the
season. Please remember you are purchasing a share of ownership of a particular
animal and the amount of milk that animal produces will vary.
What happens when I go on vacation and do not
pick up my milk?
The monthly boarding fee is due whether you pick up your milk or
not. We still have to feed, milk and care for your goat.
How do I pay the boarding fee?
To avoid any confusion that you are “buying” raw milk, the
boarding fee will not be accepted at the time of pickup. Boarding fees must be
paid the first of every month.
What next?
Review all of the above information, request a copy of our
contract and once your payment is received your share will begin the 1st
delivery day of the following month.
I can no longer use my share – what do I do?
If you find yourself no longer needing your share, you may sell
your share to the next person on our waiting list (if there is another) or you
may advertise and sell your share to a third party as long as they are made
aware of our contract and agree to abide by it.
Special Note: it is illegal to sell raw milk in Virginia if you
are not a licensed and inspected dairy. PLEASE NEVER SELL YOUR EXCESS MILK!
